Insulating a camper van is essential for creating a comfortable and livable space. It helps regulate temperature, reduce noise, and prevent condensation. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is the most popular insulation option for camper van builds. It provides a high R-value (a measure of insulation effectiveness) and seals all gaps and cracks. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is also waterproof and prevents condensation. 

It is essential that when you use spray foam insulation that you compensate for its airtightness by ventilating properly (build tight, ventilate right). This can be done by installing heat recovery ventilators (HRV) or fans that are used to move out the moisture while retaining the heat.
